"The Hills" are are close by, right on Adelaide’s doorstep and are a regular favourite destination for Magpie Tours.  We share our expertise and connections to reveal the rich cultural history, niche agriculture, gardens, wineries and creative arts of this region.  We visit mainstream locations as well as out-of-the-way nooks and crannies that give the Adelaide Hills so much character.  Our itinerary highlights:

• We follow a route through historic areas of Adelaide on our way to The Hills. First stop is Penfold’s Winery, producers of Australia’s most famous wine - Grange Hermitage. They have an amazing story and a luxurious facility.

• We head to Mount Lofty for its panoramic view of Adelaide on one side and the enchanting Botanic Gardens on the other.

• We then travel to Deviation Road Winery, famed for its exceptional, award-winning sparkling wines. It's a small enterprise, but perfectly formed.

• Next is Australia’s oldest German town, Hahndorf, for a walk along the main street and lunch. Then it's a short drive to The Cedars, home and studio of Hans Heysen, one of Australia’s most famous and successful 20th-century artists.

• We visit Jurlique, now an international health and beauty brand. See the original farm and stop in at the original production facility and factory store.

• We aim to make one last stop for a final refreshment at either a winery or perhaps one the many historic pubs in this area.

• Finally we head back down onto the Plains in order to get you back to your accommodation by 5:30 pm.
